Serbia 2011
Director: Miloš Jovanović
Serbian & German with English subtitles
Running time: 50 min.
The film portrays the headstrong Serbian mathematician and physicist Mileva Einstein, née Marić (1875–1948). It tells the dramatic story of the woman who was Albert Einstein’s companion during the most productive phase of his scientific work. In beautifully staged vignettes it shows episodes from the life of this fascinating woman, played by Anica Dobra. Her share in Einstein’s scientific work is still the subject of much speculation today. Some regard her as co-author or even the actual originator of Einstein’s early papers; others see her “merely” as the woman who supported Einstein by listening critically and questioning his ideas competently. In 2005 the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich honoured her as a co-developer of the theory of relativity.

Serbia 2012
Director: Zdravko Šotra
Original version with English subtitles
Running time: 115 min.
PROFESSOR KOSTA VUJIĆ'S HAT was the most successful Serbian film of 2012. This optimistic and highly entertaining comedy about an unusual teacher was a success at festivals worldwide and tells its story in a clever, down-to-earth and at the same time exuberant way, with a remarkable, very playful ensemble of (young) Serbian actors. Kosta Vujić is a real person and is regarded as one of Serbia’s most important educators.
In the mid-19th century, Kosta Vujić taught German at the First Belgrade Gymnasium. He was a lovable eccentric and a passionate teacher whom his pupils held in the highest respect. The very first graduating class he was responsible for was probably the best Serbia has ever produced – with brilliant minds such as Mihailo Petrović, Jovan Cvijić, Pavle Popović, Jaša Prodanović, Milorad Mitrović, Ljubomir Stojanović and others, who later became famous as great scientists, academics and teachers.
Guest: Actor Aleksandar Radojičić
